Colorado bound
Sitting at Narita Airport now, waiting for my flight to Colorado. Should be the better part of 3 weeks snowboarding. Ullr delivered - it's finally snowing. However, my left big toe is hurt...not sure how. Whatever, I'm riding anyway. Let it snow!

Protect Idaho wolves
This really shouldn't have to be said but it does. The ecosystem needs wolves. They make for healthier deer and elk herds and preserve a part of our heritage that other nations have lost. Foolishly, Idaho doesn't get that. They're pushing the population too low. Click here and you can sign a petition to protect them. It's the least you can do.
An update on the Taos snowboarding experience
A lot of folks, me included, got very happy when Taos opened for snowboarding. Here's an update on what is apparently a very successful move.
Get high and lose weight
No, not that way. A recent study shows that altitude helps with weight loss. I first read about this on Rocky's blog and then found the details here.
Whistler during the Olympics
Will Whistler be closed for riding during the Olympics. Not according to this story.

Never Summer and more
Westword, an alternative publication in Denver, wrote some great stuff about Never Summer. Here it is. I think they went deeper and did a better job covering them than the industry papers. Anyone who knows me knows I love the guys at Never Summer. There's even a Japanese connection - read the story to find out.

Extra nice

5out of 5
Gift: No
Fit: Feels true to size
Pros: Wicks Away Moisture, Comfortable, Good Design, Regulates Temperature Well, Durable
Best Uses: Snowboarding
Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational
I read about these in Ski Magazine (odd for a snowboarder?). I'm a major fan of Injinji and I had to try them. They make my feet much more comfortable and seem to let me go a little longer and a little harder. They're even warm and they breathe very well. I like the first ones so much, I bought 2 more pairs.

Man goosed
What should you do when attacked by a wild goose? Bet they didn't cover that in Survival School. People laughed when Jimmy Carter was attacked by a rabbit. We may have a rabbit v. goose winner-take-all match soon.
I stole this from Rocky Thompson's The Goat Blog. The least I could do is give him a link ;-)

Wear a helmet when you snowboard or ski
The operating word is "duh" but some folks still fight common sense. Check it out! More info here.

New snow
Snow is magic. Everything is better when it snows...even my long drive to work tomorrow morning. I don't mind. The world is different. Tokyo is getting some snow...right here at Yokota AB. I took my dogs out for a romp and they dig it.
Niseko powder
Just a little Niseko powder for anyone interested. Here's a bit more info! Snow is finally returning to Japan's lower resorts this week...today in some places. Even Tokyo may get some by tomorrow. Let me get well, Ullr!
